Today’s word is: Procrastinate – Would you like to know what it means? It means- to delay or postpone

Suresh was a distinction holder in Business Management and was an excellent employee. However he lacked the confidence to present before a group. Although he wanted to take a course that would enhance his presentation skills, he was procrastinating (Now what does that mean? It means that he was delaying in enrolling (taking admission) for the course). This cost him his promotion.

This means that the opportunity of getting promoted was lost only because of his procrastination. He later enrolled himself for the course with BM English Speaking Institute and you know what happened, right?

Example number 1 of 8: Children normally procrastinate if their mother tells them to do something. It means that if an instruction is given to a child, she or he will try to delay in performing that task.

 

Example number 2 of 8: One generally tends to delay activities which she or he does not like or does not enjoy. E.g., Cooking, Exercising or socializing. This means we procrastinate activities that we do not like to do.

 

Example number 3 of 8: David often procrastinates when it comes to him doing the paperwork. He delays it because he feels that it is time-consuming.

 

Example number 4 of 8: Simran could not complete her project and she lost her job because she was procrastinating a lot when she really had enough time.

 

Example number 5 of 8: James always submits the reports after the deadline because he procrastinates a lot. He postpones most of the time.

 

Example number 6 of 8: The college office informed the students not to procrastinate in submitting the exam form. If they postpone it, they will not be able to take the exam/ they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

 

Example number 7 of 8: Vanishree had not inculcated the habit of preparing for a presentation. She had a habit of procrastinating, making the ppt. This would lead to her being stressed on the day of the presentation.

 

Example number 8 of 8: Though the financial advisor strongly recommended Sheetal and Jignesh to keep a track of their finances in an excel sheet, they procrastinated that for many months and had a problem during Income Tax submission process.
